True Love

True Love

Review 1:

One of the very few "Hentai" games (Japanese adult titles) that I like, True Love is a Hentai adventure game with a difference. You are a highschool boy looking for love and excitement. Your mission is to win the girls' hearts (naturally) before your last summer of freedom is over for good.

True Love is not as good as Sentimental Graffiti, a popular Japanese dating sim that was never translated to English, but it comes quite close. Every day when you wake up you get a chance to decide what you want to do in the morning, afternoon and night. What you decide to do (pleasure, sports, study and so on) raises your skill in that catagory. Naturally, different girls in the game are attracted to different kind of man, and your quest to charm them will not succeed if your skill in the category they like is not high enough. One of the funnest aspects of the game lies in figuring out which skill each woman is attracted to, and try to please them accordingly. When you charm them enough, the girls will be more than willing to get in bed with you. This is, of course, where you get to see the infamous Hentai scenes, although I think they are not as explicit or flagrant as newer Hentai titles. Various actions also have different effects on different skills. For example, drinking will increase your bravery, but diminishes your judgment. The girls you will meet in the game are quite well realized; they are not sex-starved girls with paper-thin personalities that are common in most Hentai games. They have their interests, goals, and are dignified enough to deny frontal sexual advances.

Overall, I find True Love to be a fun Hentai title that is much more than a "game" than most Hentai releases (which are really just collection of anime porn pictures, tied together with a shallow plot). With many girls to impress and options to choose, the game's replayability is high. Highly recommended to Hentai fans and anyone who's interested in Japanese (teen) culture in general.

Review 2:

In True Love game you choose what kind of person you want to be. You could be a normal person or for example a sportsman. Everyday you can decide what you want to do. During the week you go to school and after school, you could go shopping, swimming or anything else. On school and on other places you meet different people, most of them are girls. You have to build up a good conversation with them and sometimes where you have luck, it leads to a relation!

Review 3:

This True Love Game is habit forming, addictive like a drug. No matter how many times I delete it from my computer it keeps finding its way back again. The characters are diverse and interesting, the dialogue (though a bit on the stereotypical side) gives enough insight into the character that you're trying to woo that you're able to make choices in your daily schedule in order to accommodate that persons wants and needs. It's in depth enough that depending on what kind of attributes you work out (Scholarship, Sports, Art, Passion, Fashion, etc.) you can attract different ladies, though there is a way to attract and meet them all of you so desire.

There is just enough storyline and content in this game to make the otherwise drudgery "gameplay" aspect (working out your stats) seem worth it, though there may be several days in a row in which no one approaches you, depending on how you play your cards. It can get a little boring if that happens, but this only highlights the need to be a well rounded character. *Hint*. If you focus on one thing for a week I.E. Sports, then the god of Sports will visit you in your sleep, imbuing you with special stat hikes that will be of great value to attracting several women at once.

I can't say that this is a great game entirely. Some may find it particularly boring, since the payoff for all your time and work is a few scenes with the girl of your choice, generally three, but those who play this game to pass time or just like to play around with some virtual interpersonal relationships may find something to attract them to this game. Hey, it beats meeting a real person on the internet doesn't it?

In short, while I would recommend this game to people looking for a well developed Japanese dating sim, I wouldn't recommend this to a person looking for a quick fix. It takes time, days and months go by, and you need to allow sufficient time for your lover to become attracted to you. While it does tide you over with some tamer things along the way, you won't get what you're looking for until 2-3 hours, maybe more, into the game. So, if you're looking for a long game to whittle away the summer hours while virtually wooing a gaggle of school-girls, this just may be the game you're looking for.
